Volvo’s truck with collision warning and emergency brake system is a safety feature that would help reduce truck accidents with other vehicles. We are human beings and sometimes our body would not be fully aware of the things that are happening in the moment and may have been distracted. But, collision warning system would detect a vehicle in front of the truck and warn the driver to apply the breaks. If the driver is still distracted, emergency brake safety system in the truck would  apply the brakes for you to slow down and to the complete stop if in these events, the driver didn’t respond in any manner. This would help reduce a lot of vehicle accidents and personal injuries resulting from the accidents.

If the trucks have to auto brake and suddenly have to come to complete rest, then what happens to the vehicle that is behind the truck? There must be mechanism for the truck to warn the vehicle behind it to be aware and get ready to stop the vehicle. In this situation, the break light will change from fixed to flashing by the collision warning systems automatically or by the driver manually.

In both the scenarios, the truck with collision warning and emergency brake systems are going to change the figures of deaths every year in vehicle accidents. The government should start mandating these safety systems in all the vehicles that would be sold in the future. The cost of these safety system should be affordable. If these system would be affordable and mandatory(government’s role in public safety), then we can see the sudden decrease in death number of people from vehicle accidents. In 2012, Texas alone has 3258 people dead is vehicle accidents and this number could be decreased substantially to very less number in 2013 with systems like these.
