Ford invests in telematics to study space robots for improving vehicle safety

Telematics is any integrated use of telecommunications and informatics for the application of technology of sending, receiving and storing information through telecommunication devices and internet in conjunction with affecting control on remote objects (Wikipedia). If this system is used specially with the vehicles then we can say that it is vehicle telematics. Some of the application are vehicle tracking, trailer tracking, fleet management, satellite navigation, mobile data, wireless vehicle safety communication, emergency warning system for vehicles, intelligent vehicle technologies any many more.

Ford’s research for connected vehicles is without no doubt an important step that the vehicle manufacturers are taking to make vehicle safer to avoid vehicle accident and injury that could have been simply avoided, provided these safety system work as excepted.

Ford is up to very positive move by investing on a three-year research partnership with the telematics department of St. Petersburg Polytechnic University to study. The department would study the communication systems that is used in space robots, so that, Ford could come up with better technology to manufacture cars that are efficient to communicate directly with one another as well as with the help of internet as the medium of communication.

The connected cars would be utilizing this telematics technology would be able to communicate with every objects. These objects could be other vehicles on the road, poles on the road, pedestrian on the roads, buildings and the list goes on. This technology would also help more efficiently perform emergency roadside assistant for the rescue team and help the vehicle occupants in need. The traffic congestion could be reduced. More importantly, for the TRACY firm’s mission statement “The TRACY firm focuses its nationwide law practice on vehicle safety issues”, vehicle accidents and vehicle accidents due to defects in vehicle could substantially be reduced.

Oleg Gusikhin, technical leader in the systems analytics for Ford says, “The research of fallback options and robust message networks is important. If one network is down, alternatives need to be identified and strengthened to reliably propagate messages between networks.”

The field of telematics would help bridge this problem for increased network communication for the information to be sent, received and stored so that, the connected vehicle are always connected and information is always processed to have vehicle driver get all the information to make a wise decision and avoid vehicle accidents. Ford is studying especially to find out how the technology is developed that communicates with the space robots and it could be used in connected cars.

“We are analyzing the data to research which networks are the most robust and reliable for certain types of messages, as well as fallback options if networks were to fail in a particular scenario,” says Gusikhin,. “In a crash, for example, a vehicle could have the option to communicate an emergency though a DSRC, LTE or a mesh network based on the type of signal, speed and robustness required to reach emergency responders as quickly as possible.”

Basically, Ford’s research for connected vehicles is without no doubt an important step that the vehicle manufacturers are taking to make vehicle safer to avoid vehicle accident and injury that could have been simply avoided, provided these safety system work as excepted.

The TRACY law Firm has been holding the vehicle manufactures liable for their negligence in safety of the vehicle’s occupants due to numerous reasons that includes the vehicle defects in this recall.
