Trans Tech School Bus’s Defective Seat on a Verse of Recall

Certain models of Trans Tech school buses from the year 2009 through 2011 that were manufactured from May 2010 through July 2011 and are C.E. white seat cushioned are subject to recall.

Problem:
The self-latching mechanism used to retain the seat cushion to the frame may not activate.  Accordingly, these seats fail to conform to the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard Number 222, “School Bus Passenger Seating and Crash Protection.” If the seat cushion is not fully latched to the seat structure, it could flip up out of position in the event of a crash.  This could increase the risk of injury to the vehicle occupants.

Solution:
Trans Tech will notify owners, and dealers will repair the seats free of charge.  The safety recall is expected to begin during February 2012.  Owners may contact Trans Tech at 1-845-988-2333.
